It’s a couple of months since Apple announced iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. You can purchase iPhone 11 Pro starting from $999 with a 64GB storage. This year, Apple offered the best value iPhone by cutting the price of its entry-level phone, iPhone 11 to $699. The question is whether the iPhone 11 Pro deserves an extra $300 cost and a Pro title?
Design and Look
In terms of design iPhone 11 and iPhone Pro looks very much like the last year’s model. Like iPhone XS and XR, the size of entry-level iPhone 11 sits between two more expensive models. iPhone 11 is larger than iPhone 11 Pro but not as big as iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Despite the differences in size, the look and feel of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro are very similar. Both flagship phones share a notched display and an all-glass back with a new square camera slot. Apple claims that it is the toughest glass used in a smartphone so far. It means that it is more durable in the case of sudden drop or accidents.
The sides of the iPhone 11 are made of aluminum while the Pro model features a more durable stainless-steel frame. Both have a display that is extended close to close to bezels with a slot for the FaceID sensor, but the cheaper model has slightly thicker bezels.
If you compare both phones side by side, you will notice that iPhone 11 Pro is slightly more matt looking, whereas, iPhone 11 is thicker and taller and weighs a bit more.
Display
Another huge difference between the two iPhone models is their displays. The iPhone 11 has a larger display than the Pro model but it is lower quality. iPhone 11 comes with a 6.1-inch LCD display with 1792 x 828 resolution, while the more expensive model uses a superior OLED display having a resolution of 2436 x 1125. This reveals how Apple has managed to keep the cost of the iPhone 11 down compared to iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.
The LCD technology on iPhone 11 is quite advanced, providing true-to-life colors and 625 nits max brightness. It seems to be more than enough for most people who use their phones occasionally to surf the internet and connect with family and friends through social media.
On the other hand, iPhone 11 Pro sports an XDR display (5.8 inches) which can reach 1200 nits of brightness and includes support for Dolby Vision and HDR10, not to mention a superior resolution. This means that on the Pro model, images look sharper and a lot brighter in sunlight and it can display deeper blacks and more details in bright areas. So, if you want an excellent display experience you should go for the Pro version.
Camera
The camera system is where the iPhone 11 Pro can be truly distinguished from the cheaper model. There’s a square-shaped camera bump on the back of each of these new phones, but iPhone 11 Pro includes a triple-camera setup, whereas on iPhone 11 there are only two.
Both iPhones have received a significant upgrade in the camera system compared to the last year’s flagship phone, iPhone XR and therefore take excellent photos, but the early experiment shows the photos on iPhone 11 Pro are slightly brighter
The iPhone 11 features a dual-camera lens with a 12MP wide camera with a focal length of 1.8 plus a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. The main difference in iPhone 11 Pro is the addition of a third telephoto camera.
While the iPhone 11 can go from 0.5X (Ultra-wide) to 1X(Wide) zoom, thanks to the telephoto camera, iPhone 11 Pro is able to zoom more on the objects without comprising quality. The triple-lens setup on iPhone 11 offers a 4X optical zoom while capturing a wider scene.
Both models come with a night mode which impressively improves the quality of photos taken in a low-light environment.
Battery Life and Charging
This year, Apple improved the battery life for all models, however, the biggest benefits belong to the Pro models.
The iPhone 11 survives for one hour longer than the iPhone XR, rated for up to 17 hours of video. This seems to be sufficient for an entire business day. iPhone 11 Pro represents even a better battery. It supports up to 18 hours of video playback, 4 hours better than the iPhone XR.
Both iPhone 11 and Pro feature fast-charging capability. The difference is that the Pro comes with an 18W fast-charger adaptor whereas it is sold separately for iPhone 11.
A better OLED display, triple-camera setup and longer battery life are where iPhone 11 Pro outstands iPhone 11. However, for many people, the iPhone 11 is good enough and more economical. Now it’s up to save some money and go for the cheaper iPhone 11 or opt for more professional specs of iPhone 11 Pro.
