1- Ease of Use

Apple Products are popular for user-friendliness. They work just as expected. I admit that iOS is intuitive and smooth, but so is Android. It features a simple yet powerful interface. In addition, Android allows you to customize almost every aspect of your phone.

Therefore, in this category, two rival operating systems come into a tie.

2-Hardware, Cost and Look

Apple makes nothing but luxury iPhones. There are no cheap iPhones. That’s why iPhones look so attractive and compatible. Apple takes whole control in the process of building hardware and software. The result is an amazing appearance and great performance.

On the contrary, Android phones are made by many manufacturers. Because of that, they vary in size, weight, features and quality. Undoubtedly, premium-priced Android phones built by manufacturers are as beautiful as the recent iPhone. But some cheap Android devices are just plain ugly. At least they do the job with a fraction of cost for an iPhone.

Winner: tie

3- Security vs. Customization

Google Android is both open source and far open for application developers. It means that you can get through the operating system and customize it for your personal preferences. The best is that you have access to the filesystem a feature restricted in iOS. But this comes at the cost of security. Android is more prone to malware and security vulnerabilities. Viruses and fake apps can penetrate your phone and turn your life into a living hell.

On the other hand, iOS offers a more closed interface to users. You have not access to the filesystem. You cannot customize your phone so much. You cannot even pin shortcuts of most used apps to the home screen. Developers always complain about the too strict rules imposed by the App Store. In spite of that, thanks to the tight control of Apple over hardware and software, iOS apps work smoothly and users are less exposed to risky apps and viruses.

Winner: tie

4- Battery life and Charging

Because every Android phone is different, this is hard to judge. But experience shows that Android smartphones don’t need to be as recharged as iPhones. However, the new versions of iOS tend to cut the battery usage and battery life is consistently improving in the recent models of iPhone. iPhone 10 and 11 have received a substantial boost in the battery capacity.

If you are looking for a smartphone that can withstand several days without charging you should go for Android. Some Android smartphones feature a very-high capacity battery that keeps the phone running for a long time.

Winner: tie

5- Camera System

iPhone’s camera is great. iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max feature a triple camera system by which users can take awful photos even in a low light environment.

With Android, the camera situation is a bit more complex. The reason is that there is a range of cameras on Android devices. The photo and videos taken by top-range Android phones are as good as or better than iPhone. But photo management is better on iPhone. Certainly, cheaper Android smartphones have nothing to say and fall far behind the iPhone in the camera quality.

Winner: iPhone

6- Connecting to the Peripheral devices

When you have a smartphone, it means that you want to connect it to any gadget around you. Android phones use USB ports to connect to other devices. For that, a smartphone powered by Android is able to connect to a wide range of accessories without pain.

On the other hand, the iPhone makes use of a proprietary Lightning Cable to connect to accessories. While there are some advantages to Lighting, but it’s less compatible with gadgets. Besides, USB cables are cheaper and found almost everywhere.

Winner: Android

The Decision whether to buy iPhone or Android phones is not as simple as announcing the winner via tallying up the winners above. The truth is that both platforms offer a good choice for different people. So, it’s up to you to decide which factor is more important for you.
